Stille, mein Wille was born out of a comment I saw on social media. The person wanted a version of "Be Still, My Soul" that would actually make one's soul still. So in late 2016, I quickly made a piece that set out to do exactly that. I leaned towards the pandiatonic harmonies that I grew to love in modern choral pieces. The lyrics are the first two original German verses, by Catharina Amalia von Schlegel.
In 2017, I revised Stille, mein Wille under the tutelage of Thom Hasenpflug. Later again in 2026, I re-engraved this music to a more publisher-quality format. I also decided to make a few voicing changes and minor melodic changes. This edition looks cleaner and sounds just a bit better.
